Dr. Sergey I. Shestopalov
DMD, MICCMO, PhD, DO

Graduated from the Dental School of Stavropol Medical Institute in 1980. In 1991 he completed postgraduate program in Moscow Medical Dental Institute where he defended his PhD on the prosthetic treatment of patients with TMD. He was a professor of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry of Nizhny Novgorod Medical Academy for 17 years. Since 2008 has worked at the Advanced Training Faculty of Nizhny Novgorod Medical Academy. The author of 40 scientific articles and 8 patents includes that for the HIP-analyzer. He is member of the Board of the Russian Section of ICCMO. He is a Doctor of Ostheopathy (DO).

ABSTRACT TOPIC - Dynamic distraction method in the treatment of TMD.
Treatment of patients with TMD, when there is a restriction of mouth opening due to unreduced disc displacement, presents significant difficulties. The proposed method of dynamic distraction of the TMJ in combination with TENS makes it possible to reduce the disc and fabricate an orthotic splint in the correct position of the mandible, which improves the treatment outcome.
